One of our most exciting initiatives began through a partnership with SETSONG TEA CRAFTERS, aimed at empowering Black women through the craft of hand-made tea bags and the selling of teas as a means of job creation.

Our journey began with the training of six women from the Mooiplaats Informal Settlement, known as Ekuphumuleni. These women have since become tea sellers within their community and distributors of Setsong Tea to others interested in generating income through tea sales. This marks a powerful step toward sustainability and long-term community empowerment.

With the generous support of FNB, we were able to successfully launch this pilot project. Their funding enabled twelve women from Mooiplaats to produce 5,000 handcrafted tea bags, which were proudly distributed at the Spar Ladies Challenge Race in 2024.

Thanks to FNB’s continued support, SMILE Impact can now provide starter packs to even more individuals, equipping them with the tools needed to start their own small businesses and create income opportunities.
